Player Scouting Platform for a Professional Sports League

The situation

A professional football organization needed a structured way to evaluate international talent across multiple leagues and development programs. Their scouting staff was working from spreadsheets, manually tracking player measurables, video links, grades, and team histories across hundreds of prospects. There was no centralized way to search for players matching specific physical or performance criteria, no structured grading system, and no collaborative draft board that multiple scouts could contribute to simultaneously.

The organization wanted a web-based platform that matched the specificity of their evaluation process: support for international player data, custom grading rubrics, proprietary player archetypes, video integration from multiple hosting platforms, and draft boards that could be configured per scout and aggregated for leadership review.

What we built

CorrDyn built a full-stack player scouting portal with five core modules.

Player search and filtering. Scouts search and filter the prospect database by position, region, nationality, physical measurables (height, weight, forty time, broad jump, three-cone), and school or team affiliation. Results display in a compact format with the key identifiers scouts need to make quick decisions about which prospects to evaluate further.

Player profiles. Each prospect has a detailed profile page with personal information, nationality, school history, previous team affiliations, physical measurables, grading history, and embedded video highlights. The system handles video from multiple hosting platforms, with links that render directly in the profile when the source supports embedding.

Grading system. Scouts grade players on a defined numerical scale, where each grade maps to a performance description. Grades attach to individual scout profiles and aggregate into composite views. Color-coded indicators on profiles and boards provide at-a-glance quality assessment.

Draft boards. The platform includes two board types. A “frontboard” shows a scout’s personal prospect rankings with compact player cards organized by position and grade. A “backboard” shows the collaborative, organization-wide view with all evaluated players arranged by position. Both boards support drag-and-drop reordering and link directly to player profiles for deeper evaluation.

Admin and data management. An administrative interface handles player creation, data validation, duplicate detection, and bulk updates. The system validates measurement ranges, enforces required fields, and flags data integrity issues before they reach the scouting staff.

What changed

The scouting organization moved from fragmented spreadsheets to a structured evaluation platform where every scout works from the same data. Player searches that previously required manual filtering across spreadsheet tabs now take seconds. Draft board discussions reference the same grading data rather than each scout’s personal notes. The platform has been refined through multiple rounds of user testing and continues to evolve as the organization’s scouting scope expands.
