Data API Development

Your data is valuable. But it is locked inside your warehouse.

We build the APIs, data products, and reverse ETL pipelines that get your data into the hands of the people and systems that need it — partners, customers, internal tools, and downstream applications.

Data API Development

Most data work ends at the warehouse. Data comes in, gets modeled, feeds dashboards. But for a growing number of organizations, the real value is in getting data back out: to partners who need it, to products that display it, to business systems that should already have it.

Use Cases

Engagements where this is the right work.

Partner and customer data delivery

Your partners need structured access to your data. We build REST APIs, SFTP pipelines, and credentialed data feeds that deliver the right data in the right format with the right access controls.

Monetizing your data as a product

You are sitting on valuable data that others would pay for: industry benchmarks, market intelligence, operational metrics. We build the API infrastructure, access controls, and delivery mechanisms that turn your data into a revenue stream.

Embedded analytics and data products

Build data into your product. We develop the APIs and infrastructure that let your customers see their own data through dashboards, reports, and analytics embedded in your application.

Third-party data ingestion and normalization

You receive data from vendors, partners, or government sources in inconsistent formats: CSVs, flat files, undocumented APIs. We build ingestion pipelines that validate, normalize, and deliver that data into your systems reliably.

Reverse ETL into operational systems

Your warehouse has the data your sales, support, and ops teams need — but it never gets there. We build the reverse-ETL pipelines that put it in the systems they actually use.

Our Process

A structured approach that delivers results at every stage.

01

Design Data Delivery Patterns

We develop data APIs that serve curated datasets to external partners through REST endpoints with authentication and rate limiting. We build reverse ETL pipelines that synchronize warehouse data back into Salesforce, HubSpot, and other operational tools. We create embedded analytics infrastructure that lets your customers see their own data inside your product. Each of these patterns requires different engineering: authentication models, caching strategies, schema management, and SLA monitoring. We have built all of them.

Output: API contract spec with versioning, authentication, and rate-limit design

02

Build and Ship to Production

Every data API project starts with understanding who consumes the data, how they consume it, and what guarantees they need. A partner who pulls a daily SFTP file has different requirements than an application making 10,000 API calls per hour. We design the delivery mechanism, build the infrastructure, and implement monitoring and access controls. Documentation and consumer onboarding are part of every engagement, not an afterthought.

Output: Deployed API, client SDK, and developer-facing documentation

03

Long-Term Partnership

Our longest data API partnership is a five-year engagement building and maintaining labor market data infrastructure: APIs, SFTP delivery, credential management, and data warehouse modernization for an organization that distributes data to government agencies and research institutions. We have also built reverse ETL pipelines that synchronize customer and financial data between warehouses and CRM systems, and embedded analytics for SaaS products that serve data to end customers.

Output: SLAs, monitoring, and a roadmap for new endpoints

Technologies

We pick the right tool for the problem, not the other way around.

Frequently Asked
Questions

What is the difference between a data API and a regular API?
A data API is specifically designed to serve datasets, aggregations, and analytical results to consumers. It sits on top of your data warehouse or data lake and serves curated, governed data — as opposed to a CRUD API that serves application state. The engineering considerations are different: caching strategies, query optimization, and access control are all data-specific.
Can you help us monetize our data?
Yes. If you have data that partners, customers, or industry participants would pay for, we build the infrastructure to deliver it: authenticated API endpoints, metered access with usage tracking, partner onboarding workflows, and the caching and serving layers needed to deliver data reliably at scale. We handle the engineering so you can focus on the commercial side.
How do you handle authentication and access control for data APIs?
We implement API key management, OAuth 2.0, or token-based authentication depending on your security requirements. For partner-facing APIs, we add rate limiting, usage tracking, and per-partner access scopes so you control exactly what each consumer can see.
Can you build this on top of our existing data warehouse?
Yes. Most data API projects sit on top of an existing Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, MotherDuck, or PostgreSQL warehouse. We build the API layer, caching, and credential management without disrupting your existing data pipelines or analytics workflows.
How do you handle performance for high-volume API consumers?
We use caching layers (Redis, CDN), materialized views, and query optimization to serve data quickly without overloading your warehouse. For high-throughput use cases, we replicate data into a dedicated serving layer so API traffic does not compete with analytical queries.
What does ongoing maintenance look like?
Data APIs require maintenance as schemas evolve, consumers change, and data volumes grow. We offer support agreements for monitoring, versioning, and consumer onboarding. We also document everything, API specs, authentication flows, and operational runbooks, so your team can maintain the system independently.
