The situation
An alternative investment networking platform that connects asset allocators with investment managers had a data synchronization problem. The company’s core systems (a custom application database, HubSpot CRM, and Xero for accounting) each contained pieces of the picture but none of them talked to each other. The sales team worked in HubSpot without seeing application activity. Finance reconciled Xero against application data manually. Leadership had no unified view of customer engagement, pipeline, or revenue.
The company had a Chief Data Officer and a data analyst but no data engineering capacity to build and maintain the integration infrastructure.
What we built
CorrDyn implemented a reverse ETL pipeline using Estuary’s Change Data Capture to synchronize data between the three core systems in near real-time. Application database changes flow into the warehouse and back out to HubSpot and Xero automatically, so the sales team sees current platform activity in their CRM and finance sees accurate transaction data without manual reconciliation.
We built a dbt transformation layer on top of the warehouse to model meeting data, participant engagement, and event analytics. The platform hosts investment conferences and networking events, so understanding meeting patterns and participant behavior is core to the business. On top of the governed data layer, we deployed a Looker BI platform that gives the sales and operations teams self-service access to engagement metrics, pipeline analytics, and event performance.
The integration work extended beyond the initial three systems. We migrated connectors from Fivetran to Estuary for cost optimization, added Segment for event tracking, and built Census-based syncs for pushing enriched data back into HubSpot. Each integration was scoped and prioritized based on the business value it would unlock.
What changed
The sales team gained real-time visibility into platform activity directly in HubSpot, eliminating the manual cross-referencing that had consumed hours per week. Finance stopped reconciling spreadsheets between Xero and the application database. Leadership got a unified view of customer engagement and pipeline for the first time. The engagement transitioned from a pipeline implementation project to an ongoing Data Team as a Service model, with CorrDyn handling new integrations, dbt model development, and dashboard requests on a fixed monthly budget.
